K, it's not really a competition, as there is no reward. Except pride. You can never have enough of that.
I'm calling it the "Make a Really Cool Planet Contest" contest.
Basically, write a short little thing describing some planet (can be one that already exists in one of your stories). Some ideas:
-Biome? Forested, desert, earth-like(mixed), etc
-Sentient species? This could include so many things, history, culture, contact with other planets, etc. etc. Just remember this is a project to give people practice with creating unique planets, not species. That'll probably come at a later date. So keep it to how the planet as a whole is effected.
-How does the ecology work? Do you have a planet that survives by having giant robotic plants that grow all the way to the edge of the atmosphere and survive off of vacuum, which they use to cause explosions underground that make jellyfish fly into the air and kill everything? That was completely improv'ed and doesn't make sense, but you get the idea. Be unique.
I find that having an assignment can be a greater motivation to a writer, so this is mainly just to help give you a little push off your backside and get something done.
We are so cool, we need the word "club" in our name twice.
