Walthrough-- Part Five

PALAN
When the bird guy appears on-screen, he will tell you about some troubles with snakes and birds fighting. This won't make a lot of sense just yet, but hear him out and then let him go on his way. Afterwards, head north until you see an opening between two cliffs. You want to keep heading up that way and then to the right where you will soon find the entrance to the desert city of Palan.
Just along the cliffs near the shoreline, if you head all the way east you will see a cave entrance that is home to a man who apparently collects things. I haven't figure out this part of the game entirely, so we will ignore that part for now.
Getting back to the subject of Palan, when you enter you'll see that the desert city is a series of homes built into the sides of cliffs. There is a store there that has some interesting items, so check it out if you like. If you talk to the bird monsters walking around, you will learn that they are fighting with the snakes over this territory. The birds have control of the main city while the snakes have control of the open desert.
If you go to the left and then all the way up, you should come to the entrance to the home of the chief bird (he doesn't have a name, but he seems to be the one in charge so I'm calling him the Chief). Talk to him, and he will tell you that he really has no idea why the fight between his kind and the snakes has gone on so long. He will ask you to be a representative for bird-kind, so this means you must venture out into snake territory and speak with their leader. Leave his house when he is done talking to you, then head all the way east, then north.
You should come across some snake sentries moving up and down on the screen. Walk past them and out into the desert. Be careful, you could be attacked at any time here. Have some decent Lake types with you. Then head all the way north and look for the entrance to the Snake Chief's home. When you get inside and talk to him, and he learns you are affiliated with the birds, he will get angry and fight you. Again, Lake types will help here.
After the battle, the Snake Chief calms down a bit and learns that you just want to negotiate a peace treaty. He decides that he wants an offering from the birds (it's called a Toy in the bootleg version of the game), so head back to the Bird Chief and talk it over with him. You'll soon learn that he doesn't have it. This is where the first bird guy you met outside of Virgina comes in. Go all the way back to that city and head into the eastern forest. Navigate your way back to the cave where you received the new D-shoot phone in the contest. The bird guy will be there.
Of course, he won't want to give up his Toy and will challenge you. He is quite tough. Kuribute won't stand a chance, so make sure you have some Hill types to overpower your opponent. He'll give up the Toy when you beat him and then you can go back to Palan and deliver it to the Snake Chief. He will then grant you access to the next Antenna Tree, which is all the way to the west in the desert region. From there, you will be taken to peaceful Liz Island, which lately hasn't been so peaceful...
